Holidays are all about families and traditions. With Easter coming up I thought I would talk about a very different ritual that the Walters family has and I'm pretty sure no one else partakes in. Growing up we did the typical Sunday morning with church, Easter baskets, egg hunt for the eggs we had previously dyed, lunch and pictures with our matching/coordinating outfits.
I remember getting a new outfit every Easter, a tradition I still carry on as an adult. I would beg my mom to wear it before Easter but alas I had to wait. I remember one cotton t-shirt dress in particular, it had a drop waist that I loved (totally my favorite dress of all time) and I would definitely rock that dress today! I do believe comfortable and cute has always been my style even when I went through awkward stages and my style was a bit off (ok I admit sometimes a lot off).
Now onto that crazy tradition that we have, well when everyone else is enjoying ham with their families, you can find us at the Chinese restaurant. I remember our favorite restaurant closed down but the staff knew us and many Easters were enjoyed there (often we had the place to ourselves). It's a crazy tradition but obviously something we can call our very own and I think that is pretty neat! What are your traditions? Anything unusual for different holidays?

Wardrobe Staples
You know those pieces in your wardrobe that just never seem to go out of style and are considered a wardrobe staple, well the jean jacket is just that. The best thing about a jean jacket is its versatility, you can wear it with a dress or pants. Not only does it never go out of style but you probably won't grow out of it either. I don't know of many pieces of clothing I can say that about in my closet.
Traditionally denim was used for overalls and work clothes however it has transitioned into your every day casual attire. Gap was known for their khaki and denim but now a days you can pick up a jean jacket anywhere. I recently purchased one from target and it reminds me of the original Gap style at probably 1/3 of the price.
Enjoy your day and your jean jackets :)

Good Luck Charms
We have all heard of good luck charms, like the four leaf clover, the horseshoe, the lucky penny or the rabbit foot. Did you know an elephant with his trunk up is good luck? An elephant is such a large animal but at the same time they seem so gentle. I think it's those big flappy ears! By the way, if you haven't seen Water For Elephants, you should. What a great movie.
A colorful fun way to wear these gentle giants is with a wrap bracelet, as shown below. You can double them up or layer them with other bracelets. Available at www.shopluxboutique.com for only $24. Fun easy accessory that is sure to cheer you up and maybe give you a little good luck along the way.

All opinions are mine as I am not being compensated but I am sure you will love them just as much as I do. Accessorizing is fun!

Loving Language
Working at a boutique introduces you to a whole world of brands, all unique and with their own special niches. Language is a clothing line out of Los Angeles that can be found in boutiques all over the world. "Language has become a fresh spin on the t-shirt landscape, revamped and reinvented. Using unique fabrication and adornments, combined with dyes, handiwork, and personal touches gathered from worldwide travels and treasured vintage finds. Each season of language tells a new, exotic story." I had the great opportunity to meet one of the designers, Denise, she was so sweet and of course had amazing style! Language is a gorgeous brand that can be dressed up or worn on a casual day out. With their flowy and looser style, the tops can be worn by any body type or age. Check the website for a boutique near you, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Mod
Everyone knows fashion and style is cyclical and that what was once old is now new again. Mod has been around since the 60's however I am seeing a growing trend once again.
Paul Jobling and David Crowley called the mod subculture a "fashion-obsessed and hedonistic cult of the hyper-cool" young adults who lived in metropolitan London or the new towns of the south. Due to the increasing affluence of post-war Britain, the youths of the early 1960s were one of the first generations that did not have to contribute their money from after-school jobs to the family finances. As mod teens and young adults began using their disposable income to buy stylish clothes, the first youth-targeted boutique clothing stores opened in London in the Carnaby Street and Kings Road districts. Newspaper accounts from the mid-1960s focused on the mod obsession with clothes, often detailing the prices of the expensive suits worn by young mods, and seeking out extreme cases such as a young mod who claimed that he would "go without food to buy clothes".
I think living in the 50's and 60's would have been fun in the fashion sense. I mean who doesn't love a fit and flare dress, it fits any age or any body type. As an extremely versatile style, this type of dress can be worn anywhere for any circumstance.
Fashion is what's in style now but style is knowing what fits you and your personality best. Feeling comfortable in your style is what makes you fashionable and not necessarily wearing the latest trends.
ModCloth is a popular site for just this era of style and Instagram shows what a large following that this website really does have. Boutiques also tend to cater to this style and I recommend Fairy in NOLA as it is my personal favorite. Would love to hear your thoughts or to hear which era is your personal fashion favorite?

Meeting Hale Bob's Creator
Hello my fashionista friends! I recently had the opportunity of meeting Hale Bob's creator, Daniel Bohbot. Hale Bob clothing is sold both domestically and internationally at the finest boutiques and department stores. I became familiar with the brand while working for a local boutique on the weekends. I find their clothing to not only be comfortable but unique and stylish with their bright and fun prints. Daniel was charming and entertaining and it was a real treat meeting him. Meeting him was definitely one of the highlights of my New York trip.
Hale Bob's style is defined as, according to their website, "Modern, fashion forward women in feminine, chic and distinctive clothing. Their fashions are created from the highest quality fabrics and are recognized for their exclusive, colorful prints. Hale Bob creates the feeling of chic, sexy and free. Hale Bob continues to fulfill its promise of distinctive, rich and feminine designs for the modern woman. All of the prints used by Hale Bob are designed and developed in the Hale Bob studios in Los Angeles and are exclusive to the Hale Bob brand and cannot be found anywhere but Hale Bob."
Their clothing can be dressed up or dressed down making it very versatile. If you are not familiar with the brand you should definitely check it out, I promise you will not be disappointed.
